What is Anaphylaxis

Anaphylaxis is a potentially life threatening reaction to an allergy.

Triggers that are common are foods, medicine and insect stings, but anything can cause anaphylaxis.

Some symptoms to look out for are struggling to breathe, swelling, hives, feeling faint and a fast heartbeat.

If you suspect you are having an anaphylactic shock you must ring 999 immediately and state ANAPHYLAXIS as this condition must be treated in hospital as soon as possible. Use an AUTO ADRENALINE INJECTOR if the person has one and ring 999.

To try and prevent anaphylaxis you must do all you can to avoid the trigger, although this is not always possible.

Remember to ALWAYS CARRY TWO AUTO ADRENALINE INJECTORS every where you go.
