With the country slowing returning to a new kind of normal, it leaves us worried about how our children will manage with an expected return to school in September.
We are an already anxious family with our daughter having multiple allergies and Anaphylaxis as well as Asthma and Coeliac Disease, so the worry of leaving our safe haven is daunting.
I am slowly preparing for Jasmines return to school, but not in the way of uniforms, backpacks or new shoes.... So I thought I would share what I think are some of the most crucial things for a safe as possible return, here are some of things I've already checked and got in place:
1.Check the expiry dates on your EPIPEN, JEXT or EMERADE injectors
2. Do you have an up to date care plan?
3. Check that inhalers are not expired and spacer included and fits where necessary
4. Check adequate antihistamines are in date and provided in the medical kit with measuring spoons
5.Ensure you speak with school to go over the care plan with child's new teacher
6. Explain the signs and symptoms of your child's allergies
7. Ensure your child knows what to avoid
8. Ensure your child can recognise where possible their symptoms and to ask for help
9. Speak to your child about how school will be different and reassure them
10. Record all expiry dates of medication and make sure school have a sufficient supply.
Speaking to School has helped to ease my anxiety and hopefully I can ease Jasmines anxiety and prepare her the best I can for September.
Wishing all of you the very best of luck with preparing for back to school.
