Anaphylaxis is a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that occurs when someone is exposed to a trigger, such as a food or an insect sting. The reaction can happen very quickly, and symptoms may include difficulty breathing, swelling of the throat, and low blood pressure. While there is no cure for anaphylaxis, it can be treated with medication. With prompt treatment, most people make a full recovery from an anaphylactic reaction. However, in some cases, anaphylaxis can be fatal. As such, it is important for people who are at risk of anaphylaxis to carry emergency medication with them at all times.
